Stars in the Pursuit of Home

When you come back home from a long, tiring day, do you stop outside for a few minutes to look at its external view and judge the effect time or life has had on it? Do you wonder if it is still beautiful?
You do not because you know (and you always will) that what lies inside is worth more than anything out there in the world. ‘Beautiful’ is perhaps not the right term to describe it because it can never be as encompassing.
You know that wherever you go, no matter how far away, you will never forget it. Will come back to it.
If you are not able to, you will still feel its value. It will become a part of you. It has become a part of you- your home. Not because of what it looks like (though that too is an image of comfort and peace), but because of what it is.
And the others will never know it the way you do because while they might visit it once in a while, you live in it.

I think that is the same with people.
Once you meet a person whose soul you cannot help but embrace when you see it, touch it, love it, their external beauty slowly starts to matter less than their inner self. Somewhere, their looks become not a mundane, attractive commonality but a quintessential entity.
Sooner than you know, their soul is intertwined with your own and you find a home in them too.

How heavenly that is. To find yourself in someone else.
How very heavenly indeed.
