Epiphanies, especially when sudden, are so confusing aren’t they?
I was studying history for my upcoming exam, essentially lost in the world of yesterday when, unexpectedly, I started thinking about how we unknowingly try to define ourselves on the basis of the characters we’ve read about in popular/underrated novels or even watched in shows.

Often, we come across such marvellous characters that we align our entire personality in accordance with theirs just so we can seem like them to the others.
I realized that the entire attraction to someone to an extent that we adopt their mannerisms just to be like them begins because THEY are unapologetically themselves.

Imagine it this way- if your favourite character was copying someone else, would you be influenced by them or the person they were pretending to be? The latter in most cases, right?

It is so hard for most of us to embrace ourselves fully. Society, in the shape of its social constructs (such as beauty, differences and what-not), unconsciously enforced laws and ideal embodiments in almost every field, has conditioned us to never be able to accept our own personality (physical and internal) unless we consciously put an effort into it. Unfortunately, it isn’t as easy as it sounds which is why countless end up adhering to such norms instead of actively trying to rise above or rebel against them.

But beginning the journey towards self-love and acceptance indirectly proves that you’ve achieved it already.

Personally, when this seemingly fit revelation hit, I realized that I need to stop trying to be Rosa in Brooklyn Nine-Nine or Mor in ACOTAR by Sarah J Maas and start being myself.

It won’t be easy which is exactly why it will be worth it:)
Have I convinced you to give it a try as well?
